The Centre for Spirituality, Ecology & Mental Health
Our Philosophy
How we make sense of our world shapes our relationship with it, and in our heart of hearts, we know how we are collectively living is broken and damaging to ourselves and the world. Perhaps, the prevailing materialistic way of seeing life is incomplete and problematic?
At the Centre of Spirituality, Ecology & Mental Health we create accessible, evidence-based courses that explore the many different aspects of a more complete post-material spiritual worldview, using a depth and breadth of science, psychology and ancient wisdom in order that we can learn to heal ourselves and our world.
The courses we share at the Centre of Spirituality, Ecology & Mental Health are born out of deep personal experience, both as professionals and as experiencers. How do you go from the worldview of staunch scientist and materialist to spiritual seeker and possible lunatic, in the space of an hour and half?
For many of us (including myself) this can take place in the form of spontaneous episodes of spiritual emergence or emergency, often called awakening experiences. These experiences have the power and potency to transform lives but that does not come without its challenges.
Our courses are imbued with the learning distilled from the healing process initiated by these experiences. How we make sense of life again after our assumptive world has been challenged using evidence-based research and how we develop the self-reflective and contemplative practices to integrate such experiences, are key to living a deeper and more nourishing life for ourselves and for others. Our courses provide an important map for navigating such journeys.
Live the Journey
Life is a journey to be lived more fully. It invites us all to choose to participate in planting the deep seeds of learning and becoming. We offer courses through which you may continue your journey of fully awakening and becoming more of your potential.
Trust the Journey
Life is a journey to be trusted more fully. It encourages us to hold the fear and suffering that comes with learning to be fully ourselves, more lightly. We integrate psychology and spirituality to create courses with the power to initiate personal and collective change.
Love the Journey
Life is a journey to be loved unconditionally. It asks us all to nurture our sacred and creative source within and spread our wings. We invite you to explore the transformation of your consciousness and more fully connect with what is sacred in your life.
Our Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner Course
Foundations of Spirituality Waking up & Breaking out
The journey begins with a Breaking Out from old ways of being in or seeing the world. Breaking out is a letting go of what was for something new to emerge. As such, the courses at the Centre for Spirituality, Ecology & Mental Health are a great place to start your journey of transforming your life and the world you live in. In our opening course, Foundations of Spirituality, we explore the varieties of spiritual experience by taking a deep dive into the science and psychology of spirituality .
Spirituality, Eco-Spirituality & Wellbeing Growing up & Breaking through
A journey of transformation is a liminal one, it is a journey of crossing life’s thresholds and living betwixt and between. Breaking Through is a process of growing up as human beings and recognizing the deeper nature of reality. As such it may be a road of trials, struggle and suffering. Our second course examines Spirituality, Eco-Spirituality & Wellbeing, by delving deep into spiritual awakenings, the challenges of spiritual development, and the relationship of spirituality with Nature, in order to deepen our own spiritual intelligence and an ecological sense of self.
A Living Spirituality Showing up & Breaking in
What is transformed is transmitted on our return, the completion of the transformative cycle requires each of us to integrate the journey and show up by taking our place in the evolutionary process of life. Breaking In means living through deep connection to serve something bigger than ourselves. In this final phase of the Spiritual Wellbeing Practitioner Course, we will explore how we can more fully show up in our own lives, our communities and in the web of life, as a helping and caring other. How can we bring spirituality into our professional and caring lives?
Deep exploration using yourself as the instrument of discovery
